Conch Harbor Marina, our home for 2 days |
|
The original Rainbows End |
The next morning we moved Rainbows End to
the Conch Harbor Marina, right across the channel. She would stay there until Capt. Joe from
360 Yachting would come to get her. We
had considered moving her on Friday morning to a less-expensive marina on the
Atlantic side on Stock Island (next island over to the east), but the wind was
forecast to be dismal all weekend, and so we decided it just wasn't worth
it. So we had a full day-and-a-half to
explore the town of Key West, with a home on a boat to go and a place to sleep,
with all the water and electricity we needed.
Plus, the marina had showers, a swimming pool, laundry, bicycles we
could check out, and hundreds of gorgeous boats to ooh and aah over.

Mile marker zero on Highway #1 |
Key West is one wild and crazy place. Where else can you see girls in bikinis
bicycling down the street? Here's a
short list of some of the fun things we did there:
- walking the streets and checking out the bars,
restaurants, and the people
- bicycling
- Jeremy & Kat rented a scooter and went all
over the town
- more tourist attractions that I can list
- the sunset part at Mallory Square, which
included all sorts of live entertainment
- I went up to the top of the lighthouse and got a
panoramic view of the whole island
- I bought a new hat
- checked out mile marker 0 at the beginning of
U.S. Highway #1
- visited Ernest Hemingway's house, with the 6-toed cats
